Zen and Bicycle: A Bike Ride as a Form of Meditation

A bicycle is not just a means of transport that will get you to where you need to go while also exercising your legs. It is a useful gadget that can help you achieve mindfulness and meditate. After all, when you ride a bicycle, you experience a sensation close to meditation. Haven't you noticed?
The rhythmic movement of the legs, smooth breathing, the energy radiating from your entire body, focus - all of this resembles the state you achieve when sitting cross-legged and allowing thoughts to flow freely. In Zen, this is called mindfulness.
In his book, Juan Carlos describes how cycling helped him enter this state and how drastically his life has changed since then.
