The way home after an unimaginably long war.
The way home, prolonged by the will of the formidable Poseidon for ten years, full of dangers, traps, temptations, wrath, and mercy of the gods.
The way home — to where they are still waiting for him.
A fundamental text that underlies European culture — the plot and images of the "Odyssey" live on to this day, and they are known to everyone who has not even read the poem.
In this edition, the original text of Homer's poem "Odyssey" is presented in ancient Greek along with the classic translation by V. A. Zhukovsky and expressive illustrations. For convenience of reading, each line in Russian is placed opposite the corresponding line in ancient Greek. This arrangement allows for easy comparison of the original text with the translation, drawing attention to the challenges faced by translators, and noting the most accurately translated fragments.
The work is accompanied by a large number of vivid illustrations by artists such as F. Preller, A. Kalbe, C. Robinson, P. Wilson, D. P. Jeykumb-Hood, and L. Semyonsky.
Gift design, hardcover, numerous illustrations, beautiful layout, and a colored silk ribbon add sophistication and appeal to the book. It can be purchased not only for one’s collection but also as a gift for dear and close ones.
