This monograph presents a semiotic analysis (semanalysis) of the archetype in the field of non-verbal language using plastic arts as an alternative to the method of psychological analysis (psychoanalysis) developed by Sigmund Freud and Carl Gustav Jung in the late 19th – early 20th century. The term "semanalysis" was introduced into scientific circulation by Julia Kristeva for the study of textology principles in verbal language.
In this context, the archetype in plastic arts, which pertains to non-verbal language, is examined not only from the perspective of psychoanalysis but also from the perspective of semiotic analysis, which primarily includes semantic-metaphorical and symbolic aspects.
The theme of the archetype in plastic arts is fundamentally significant in the context of artistic culture, project creativity in various fields of object-spatial environment, and in the sphere of artistic, architectural, and design education.
Since the concept of «archetype» consists of two words — «arche» and «type» — representing a certain symbiosis, each of them is analyzed separately for the first time, which has not been done in the field of plastic arts until now. This allows for an understanding of their synergistic effect in cumulative expression. The monograph discusses the attempt to deconstruct the archetype in plastic arts and the tendency of eternal return to it.
The book is intended for a wide range of readers, as well as teachers, graduate students, students of architectural, artistic-industrial, and art universities, and practicing architects, designers, and artists in the field of plastic arts.
