In search of the painting by the 19th-century artist Vladimir Ratskin, which mysteriously vanished during a prestigious auction, art expert Jonathan flies from Boston to London, where he meets the owner of a private gallery, Clara. They are connected by business matters, but the spark of feelings that flickered during their first encounter gradually flares into a bright flame. At some point, Jonathan and Clara realize that they have met before… but where and when? Here, in London, over a century ago, no matter how fantastical it may sound! In a past life, they loved each other, and their fates were forever intertwined by the power of art. However, in this life, Jonathan has a fiancée, Anna, whose plans do not include coming to terms with the emergence of a rival… The beautiful, captivating narrative by the acclaimed French master of prose, Marc Levy, takes us from Boston to St. Petersburg, from London to Florence and Paris, revealing the facets of a story where love and art challenge time.
