Songs of the Djinns

"Songs of the Djinns" consists of diary entries over a year and a half, memories, dreams, notes on work for films and performances. In Roman Mikhailov's book, late Soviet childhood meets modern India, Pushkin's fairy tales — with Bengali folklore, Stockhausen's and Messiaen's music — with reflections on rhythm, impression, and the nature of art. And in the finale, doors open to a magical school, where everything finally begins in earnest.
