Moscow and Muscovites

FOR THE FIRST TIME since 1926, the famous book by Vladimir Gilyarovsky "Moscow and Muscovites" is being published in its ORIGINAL author edition.

This work is one of the most precious repositories of memory about the past of the Russian capital. No other chronicler can offer such vivid, detailed descriptions of slums and the rare treasures of flea markets, shabby taverns, and luxurious restaurants of the 70s-80s of the last century — that time when the author spent a lot of time in these places, meeting and communicating with their colorful inhabitants and regulars.

Familiarity with the original version of this book will provide new impressions, richer compared to those that arise when reading its version considered canonical.

The book is equipped with a glossary of jargon words and expressions, as well as a large number of illustrations: archival photographs, drawings from periodicals, works of visual art, capturing types and scenes of nature that are gone forever.
