We often try to find a compromise in conflict situations: to remain silent, not to argue when our boundaries are crossed, not to cry (even if we really want to). And when we run out of strength, we boil over with anger. After such an outburst, shame and regret inevitably follow. We experience a crushing sense of guilt, and all these emotions build up within us like a snowball. The next time, we try even harder to maintain our composure - and so it goes on endlessly.
In his new book, Osho draws attention to this paradox that arises from our desire to be liked, to be convenient for others. He suggests abandoning the division of emotions into good and bad. Acknowledge your feelings without worrying about stereotypes that dictate you must always be composed, calm, and aware.
"The power of anger is healing. Without fury and rage, forgiveness will be completely tasteless, absolutely lifeless, dead".
