A cult novel that ranks among the hundred most read according to "The Times". Released in the sixties, during a vibrant time of protest from a new generation against greed, depersonalization, wars, and violence. Liberalism against traditionalism, individuality against principles. The novel astonishes with its depth, stirs emotions, and makes one ponder life, justice, the system and its infallibility, the boundaries of madness and normality, freedom, will, and choice.
A must-read. And also watch the film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" with Jack Nicholson in the lead role. Many plays based on the novel have also been staged in various countries, including Russia.
"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is a raw and devastatingly honest depiction of the boundaries between sanity and madness.
"If anyone wants to feel the pulse of our time, let them read Kesey. And if all goes well and the order of things doesn't change, he will be read in the next century as well," wrote in the "Los Angeles Times".
Indeed, even today the book continues to live on and does not lose its crazy popularity.
