After a series of tragic events, the de Luce family finally experiences joy. Yes, the eldest sister Ophelia is getting married, having thoroughly tested the nerves of her chosen one and those around her. Flavia counts the minutes until the newlyweds' departure and anticipates that relative peace will descend upon the Bukshou estate, while she herself will plunge headlong into work at the detective agency «Arthur W. Dogger and Partners. Cautious Investigations».
However, the charming rural celebration is overshadowed by an inexplicable incident - a severed finger is found in the wedding cake.
Ophelia lies unconscious, while Flavia is thrilled. Having secretly pocketed the finger from the police, she and Dogger eagerly begin the investigation. Soon after, they are hired by a certain Mrs. Prill to find some stolen letters, and the newly minted detectives simply do not know where to start. But what if this time they have stumbled upon a case that is beyond their grasp?
