A no-good second-rate actor receives a fairy-tale offer, a "dream role". Now he is a count in 1830:
beautiful women, cavalry guards, tailcoats and white dresses, mazurkas, duels, the first ball of Natasha Rostova, Pushkin, all of that.
It is much cozier here than in the murky 2022:
wife, son, worries, debts – somewhere far away…
…But just spending a few days in the TV Center is enough to feel a strange stillness, lifelessness. The very air of Ostankino is empty, like distilled water. It cannot be inhaled…
What shall we call this genre sandwich?
Costume melodrama, also a family saga, plus…
an existential thriller.
SHALL WE CONTINUE AFTER THE ADVERTISEMENT?
