Burning to the Ground

ALEX

I wasn't called Lady Shark by accident: I was used to winning the cases I took on.

Every minute of my life was scheduled.

But I was not prepared to become a hostage in a bank in Los Angeles.

In this horrific, blood-scented chaos, I met Corey.

My intuition immediately told me: this guy with a golden heart never throws words to the wind.

Tenderness shone in his dark eyes. It felt like I had known Corey for a thousand years.

Now we have to stick together to survive.

But we absolutely cannot fall in love.

COREY

My life had been like a routine. Responsibilities to loved ones, dreams of a strong and reliable family.

Alex Gardner. What could I possibly have in common with this beautiful stranger from another world?

In the three days we were destined to spend together, we shared our most intimate secrets with Alex.

I learned that her father was proud of her achievements. And no matter how strong she seemed, I felt a passionate desire to protect Alex.

But the only thing I can do is let her go.

They have only three days to find comfort and support in each other, and to reveal their deepest fears and secrets. But can you ever truly forget a person once you have let them into the depth of your heart?

A new novel by the phenomenal American romance writer Emma Scott, whose books fly off the shelves at lightning speed! It is part of the series "Lights of the Big City" in America, which also includes the novels "Higher Only Love" and "The Light Between Us." However, the stories are presented as standalone, with no connections between the characters.

Emma Scott is loved by Russian readers for her openness, sincerity, and genuine emotions that break hearts. "Burning to the Ground" is a story about the relationship of a determined girl lawyer who is willing to do anything to win a court case, and a simple good-natured guy with a background of failed relationships. They will spend three agonizing days as hostages, and this will be the starting point of their attachment to each other.

An imperfect story about how the feeling of stability, which we often strive for, prevents us from spreading our wings and paving the way to inner happiness. However, sooner or later, true love comes to the heart, and then you must muster the courage to open the doors for it...

"Alex and Corey are two amazing people. From different worlds, but fate brings them face to face and gives them a chance. The bond that forms between them is so pure and undeniable, what people call 'there it is, chemistry'. And, trying to be near each other, they have to overcome a hundred obstacles - commitments, plans. But it feels so good to throw it all away and be together, forgetting about the consequences." - Goodreads.com
