In War as in War

Viktor Kurochkin — one of the authors whose prose about war, in contrast to grand narratives, directs the reader's gaze to the main character of great Russian prose — the "little man". This "quiet" prose still touches the soul today. The stories by V. Kurochkin such as "At War as at War", "Iron Rain", and "Short Childhood", included in this collection, are of this kind. Based on the first story, the famous film "At War as at War" was directed by V. Tregubovich in 1968.
