Glass Breakage

How did a petty thief, accidentally ending up in the town of Malye Vishery, become a classic of Russian literature overnight? Why is it forbidden to wash windows in the town? Why do neighbors steal tricolor kittens?
Historian from the northern capital, Mitya Romanov, abandons everything and comes to the town to write on the cherished registration form: "I want to become the rector of the university." He is lying; he doesn't need the rector's position.

"We are from the generation now called 76-82, special - having managed to wear pioneer ties and then immediately landing in a world of freedom. We are forever suspended between different sets of values. We wanted to tell our peers about this, to pay homage to the cult novels of our youth. Our hero, Mitya Romanov, doubts himself and wants to receive talent immediately, as a gift, and therefore journeys to the strange town of Malye Vishery. He reminds us of someone."

Reviews:
"The alarming adventures of a stranger in an unfamiliar town are one of my favorite plots. You can enter this river more than once, with different guides: with Kafka, Ishiguro, or Strugatsky, with Kurosawa or Sergio Leone, but it is always a pleasure because every time both the town and the hero are different, new, and everything can go wrong in about a thousand ways."
Yana Wagner

"There are many stories about the Search in literature. The Holy Grail, the Golden Fleece, the Green Door, Simurgh, the White Whale. Heroes travel to distant lands to achieve their goals. And this is where the book ends. The novel "Glass Breakage" begins where classic stories of the search end. The hero finds a town where dreams come true. And here everything only begins."
Dmitry Chernyshev (mi3ch)

"You will immediately find yourself in an atmosphere of dense dreamlike reality that is hard to doubt. And this is a big book; you won't be able to swallow it in three days, but you can live it and keep it on your shelf to occasionally return to it."
Marta Ketro

"The authors literally transformed the genre of "magical realism" into "lo real maravilloso" - marvelous reality, and because in this marvelous reality their object of study was not a miracle, but a person next to the miracle. A lively, sincere, captivating story - not only about the roads we choose but also about what to do if you find yourself on a road not chosen by you."
