War and Peace. Volume 2

The second volume of the epic novel by L. N. Tolstoy "War and Peace" covers the period from 1806 to 1811 and highlights events in the life of Russian society on the eve of the Patriotic War. Personal relationships and the experiences of the characters, love, friendship, the search for the meaning of existence, the problem of parents and children — these are the main themes of the second volume. The action unfolds in St. Petersburg, Moscow, in the estates of the Rostovs and the Bolkonskys — Otradnoye, Bogucharovo, and Lysye Gory, as well as outside the borders of the Russian Empire — in Prussia.
