In a relatively short period in historical terms, the United States of America transformed from a comparatively small, primarily agrarian state located on the periphery of the system of international relations into a powerful state playing a key role in modern world politics. This work represents the first experience in domestic historiography of publishing a textbook that outlines the evolution of U.S. foreign policy from its inception in the late 18th century to the present day, highlighting its main stages and events.
The authors trace the process of forming and perfecting the U.S. foreign policy mechanism and the development of the conceptual basis on which it functioned, modernization of program-targeted objectives in foreign policy. An important place in the work is occupied by themes related to the analysis of the main directions of U.S. regional policy. Special attention is paid to the relations between the U.S. and Russia, revealing both the circle of conflict issues and the areas of their overlapping interests.
