The second book by the prominent representative of psychoanalysis and one of the leaders of neo-Freudianism, Karen Horney, "New Paths in Psychoanalysis," is devoted to the reformation of psychoanalysis and Freudianism by rejecting several propositions and supplementing Freud's teachings with cultural, sociological, and interpersonal components. In it, K. Horney sharply criticizes Freud's theory of libido, the concepts of anxiety and narcissism, and also rejects the thesis of S. Freud that the emergence of neuroses depends on instinctual and genetic factors. This criticism of Freud's theory, in K. Horney's opinion, will allow psychoanalysis to develop to the heights of its possibilities by eliminating controversial elements. This book presents for the first time two articles by American psychoanalyst J.L. Rubins, dedicated to subsequent transformations in the psychoanalysis developed by K. Horney and the study of her life and work, as well as a complete bibliography of her works.
