Sergey Timofeevich Aksakov (1791–1859) — a Russian writer, literary and theater critic. He was born in Ufa into a noble family belonging to an ancient lineage, graduated from Kazan Gymnasium, and enrolled in Kazan University. After university, he combined his work as a civil servant with literary activity. The fairy tale "The Scarlet Flower" was heard many times in his childhood from the housekeeper Pelageya. He first published it in 1858 as an appendix to the book "The Children's Years of Bagrov's Grandson." But subsequently, the Russian variation of the European tale about Beauty and the Beast, written in a melodic fairy-tale style, gained such popularity that it began to be published as separate editions.
"The Scarlet Flower" is a beautiful story about courage, loyalty, and love. A selfless love capable of breaking any evil spell.
