The Joy of Repentance

Fasting is a time of freedom and spiritual joy, a time of liberation from sinful habits - all that is excessive, useless, alien to the human soul, but so deeply rooted in it. The Church carefully guides us each year to the time of Great Lent and similarly leads us day by day throughout this saving time: from sin to repentance, from spiritual death to the resurrection of the soul.
At the heart of this book are the sermons and speeches of Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) of Pskov and Porkhov. Within them, the reader will find important thoughts about the meaning of human life, about what God expects from each of us, about Divine Providence, about the preparation and proper observance of the Lenten period, about repentance and keeping oneself from sin, about prayer. And about humility, without which all, even the most severe, feats will not bring benefit to the soul, without which the main goal of a Christian's life - unity with God - cannot be achieved.
