The great Persian poet of the 14th century Hafiz Shirazi is a profound thinker-mystic. Today, the questions he raised about the essence and relationship between the Divine and human beginnings, about love as the foundation for coexistence among people, nations, and entire civilizations, become especially relevant. Hafiz teaches that for us, as immortal spirits, life on Earth has immeasurable value. The meaning of life lies in the search for the Creator, revealing itself in man—the bearer of bright reason and high feeling. God appears in Hafiz's verses as a master, intoxicating the poet with mystical "wine"—the experience of the fullness of life, the ecstasy of spiritual ascent to the Highest Truth... In this translation, accompanied by detailed comments, Hafiz's ghazals are published for the first time. For a wide audience of readers.
