Robinson Crusoe

Robinson Crusoe — a classic of adventure literature, a novel that laid the foundation for the genre of Robinsonade. The book quickly gained popularity and became a hymn of survival and the strength of the human spirit.
Inspired by the story of the Scotsman Alexander Selkirk, Defoe created a tale about a sailor from York stranded on a deserted island after a shipwreck. For 28 years he lives in solitude: building a house, growing bread, taming goats, fighting cannibals, and rescuing the slave Friday.
