The beginning of the sixth grade brings trouble for Rex Oglu. In the school cafeteria, he pays not with money, but with coupons for free lunch — and feels the gaze of more affluent classmates upon him. In class, he is met by a teacher with prejudices, and his home is a cramped apartment where family quarrels occur constantly, prohibiting him from living like a 'normal' teenager and forcing him to take care of his younger brother. But Rex does not let despair take over. Step by step, he moves toward his dream of a warm family, true friendship, and self-confidence. An autobiographical story about how hope, love, and perseverance help to change life.
