In his new novel “Provisional Diagnosis”, Nilin tells about friends and contemporaries known to the general reader, and about relatives who make up his family circle. Among the first are Viktor Shklovsky, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, and Yevgeny Rein, Anatoly Naiman, Igor Kio, Leonid and Galina Brezhnev, Mikhail Ardov, Alexander Maryamov, Viktor Merezhko, and many others. Nearby are his wife Natalia Ivanova, father Pavel Nilin, and brother Mikhail. Also, university exams, favorite places like “Airport” and Peredelkino, “Machin Kасhtan” — all that the author himself calls “unspent illusions”.
“It seems to me that through my life I have used the opportunity to portray both the time in which I lived - and a continuation should have followed” (Alexander Nilin).
- 1. A new book by the author of the autobiographical novel «Peredelkino: over the fences». A novel filled with memories of people, events, and places that shaped the literature of the 20th century.
- 2. Alexander Nilin — a sports commentator, son of Pavel Nilin, a Soviet writer, screenwriter, and playwright, journalist, laureate of the Stalin Prize of the second degree. For a long time, the Nilin family lived in Peredelkino next to Boris Pasternak, Konstantin Simonov, Alexander Fadeyev, and the families of Katayev and Chukovsky.
- 3. For fans of enlightening and vividly written memoirs: each name, place, and episode of the novel carries a great literary-historical and emotional charge.
