Lefty

«Lefty» — a tale of a Tula gunsmith who was able to shoe an English flea, which caused admiration abroad, but despite his outstanding talent, he was not appreciated at home and died in poverty. Together with the stories «The Like-Minded», «Pygmy», «Cadet Monastery», «The Immortal Golovan», «The Enchanted Wanderer», «The Man on the Clock», «Sheramur», and others, they form a cycle by Nikolai Semenovich Leskov (1831—1895) about Russian righteous individuals.

At the center of the narrative are selfless, truly kind, and spiritually pure people — self-taught masters, martyrs, humanitarians, and philosophers.
