Six Days in Bombay

Six Days in Bombay» — a story about the lives of women in India and Europe in the early 20th century, about everyday courage, deep love, and true art. India, 1930s. Young Sona works as a nurse in a hospital, hoping that this honest and difficult job will one day pull her and her mother out of poverty. Responsible and capable Sona has every chance to build a decent career, but her position becomes precarious when she has the imprudence to befriend a new patient, the renowned artist Mira Novak. Meeting Mira makes Sona realize how timidly she lives, afraid to take risks, try new things, and somehow stand out. An illegitimate daughter of an Indian woman and an Englishman, she feels no belonging to either people. But when a series of tragic events occurs in her life, Sona understands: she must take a risk, cast aside conventions, see the world, and perhaps find the father who abandoned her and her mother and whom she loves and hates at the same time. Prague, Paris, Milan, London – before Sona, and following her the reader, the European bohemia of that turbulent historical period will unfold in all its beauty and vice, when the foreshadowing of World War II already hung in the air. And where will this bright, emotion-filled journey lead?
