Sholokhov. Illegitimate

Mikhail Sholokhov is one of the greatest writers of the 20th century, the author of epic works dedicated to the revolutionary events in Russia, especially in his native Upper Don region. Rightly regarded as a Soviet patriot and a convinced communist, he was constantly subjected to party criticism, defended the victims of repression, and barely escaped the wrath of zealous Chekists. Beloved by millions of readers, he was an outsider to the envious literary elite, among whom the still persistent version arose that the most famous Sholokhov novel "And Quiet Flows the Don" was written not by him, but by another author or a whole group of "literary blacks."
In his new full-scale biography of Sholokhov, well-known writer, publicist, and politician Zakhar Prilepin convincingly debunks this and other legends surrounding the name of the classic. Step by step, going through the hero's life and creative path together with him, Prilepin shows that not only Sholokhov's books but also his fate remain relevant to us today.
