Perseus

The rebellious artist Benvenuto Cellini, a recognized master of jewelry art, accepts an order from Duke Cosimo I de' Medici: he must cast a figure of Perseus in bronze. This work lasted nine years — nine long years filled with passion, doubts, grievances, and fury. Cellini, who has a fiery temperament, is ready to contradict even his patron, and all this could not complicate his work. And then there are the envious and slanderous who constantly put sticks in his wheels!
“Perseus” is a story about an artist and his relationship with power, which is never simple. This novel is written about a man who lived in the distant 16th century, but as if Cellini were a contemporary of ours. “Perseus” is a magnificent example of a historical novel, accurate in details and as captivating as the best adventure prose. It will appeal to everyone who appreciates the films “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Webber and “Goya's Ghosts” by Forman.
