Favorite. Book One

The first volume of the monumental historical novel by Valentin Pikul, dedicated to the era of Empress Catherine II and her closest associate — Grigory Potemkin-Tavrichesky.
The author recreates the spirit of the 18th century with documentary precision and artistic expressiveness: court intrigues, reforms, wars, and great dreams of a new Russia.
Before the reader lies a story not only of love and power but also of the formation of the Russian Empire as a great power.
