Roman Andreevich Rudenko — a man of extraordinary biography. A native of the Chernigov province, he rapidly climbed the career ladder and became the prosecutor of the Donetsk region before the age of 30. During the Great Patriotic War, he led the restoration of the prosecutor's offices in the liberated territories of Ukraine, and then became the prosecutor of the Ukrainian SSR. For a full 27 years, from 1953 to 1981, longer than any other Soviet prosecutor, Rudenko headed the General Prosecutor's Office of the USSR, honorably and steadfastly enduring harsh trials and historical upheavals. He witnessed and experienced much in his lifetime. And the times he lived in were not easy… Nevertheless, Roman Andreevich always remained true to the law, the party's directives, and his principles. Rudenko often had to appear in court as a state prosecutor. He loved the courtroom and felt confident in it. It is no coincidence that when determining the candidate for the Chief State Prosecutor from the USSR at the Nuremberg Trials, the choice fell on him. And Roman Andreevich brilliantly fulfilled the task set before him. Rudenko's participation in the Main Trial of Humanity — a bright page in his biography. The author of the book, Alexander Grigoryevich Zvyagintsev – Deputy Attorney General of the Russian Federation (2000 – 2016), Deputy Director of the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences, author of many historical and documentary books, as well as thrillers, plays, and film scripts.
