No Crosses Are Placed on Brotherly Graves. Poems

This collection brings together the best military poems of Vladimir Vysotsky — sincere, sharp, piercing. He was not a front-line soldier, but he managed to convey the soldier's voice with remarkable accuracy, the anxiety of waiting, the cost of heroism, and the bitterness of loss. Vysotsky does not glorify war — he speaks of a person in war: wounded, tired, loving, doubting, but unbroken. His poems — this is memory, alive and informal, where there is no place for pathos, but there is truth.
