Eternal Call. Volume 2

Anatoly Stepanovich Ivanov (1928—1999) — a Soviet writer and screenwriter. Almost all of his work is dedicated to his native Siberian land. Two of his works — the large epics "Eternal Call" and "Shadows Disappear at Noon" — were adapted for film and brought the author nationwide fame.

The focus of the epic novel "Eternal Call" is the story of several generations of the Savelyev family, natives of the distant Siberian village of Mikhailovka. The story spans more than half a century — from 1902 to 1961, and it is a very difficult time. The brothers Savelyev, their wives, and children face all the dramatic events of the first half of the twentieth century — wars, revolutions, collectivization, and industrialization.
The heroes have to go through many hardships. More than once, family ties undergo serious tests, and close people risk finding themselves on opposite sides of the barricades. The outbreak of the great war reveals true colors and shows the true face of each individual.
What is more important — feelings or duty, personal safety or the defense of the Fatherland?
Each of the heroes answers this question in their own way and makes their own choice…
