Not a River

An incredible, whimsical pattern woven by Selva Almada from fishing, random deaths, male rivalry, and the indifferent force of nature.
Enero and Negro, along with the son of their long-deceased friend, go fishing on an island. They catch a ray, drink, talk, while the river lives its unpredictable life, influencing everything around it, breaking people's destinies. Or maybe it's not a river, but a blind, mysterious providence? Dream blends with reality, ghosts of the past wander the island.
