Fables

Ivan Andreyevich Krylov – a Russian poet, writer, and translator, known for his unparalleled talent as a fable writer. Absorbing the traditions of folk art, Krylov's fables have become part of our speech and culture due to their aphoristic nature. Who doesn't remember such expressions as "and you, friends, no matter how you sit down, you are not suited for musicians"; "when there is no agreement among comrades, their business will not go well"; "and Vasya listens, but eats"; and many others! Written with an amazing sense of humor, the fables instill in us honesty, courage, decency, and diligence. They contain not only morals but also popular wisdom.
