Guide to Art. Pre-Raphaelites

This workbook invites you to explore the Pre-Raphaelites – talented British artists of the 19th century who sought to find their own path in the world of art.
Here you will find vivid stories of how they created their works, how they sought inspiration in nature, literature, ancient myths, and medieval legends. Also, a bit about what the Victorian era was like: a time of contrasts and great changes when the industrial revolution and rapid industrial growth led people to turn to ideals of chivalry, simplicity, and purity.
The workbook contains questions, tasks, and ideas for reflection that will help you understand the paintings and feel the spirit of the time. "Art Guide" is created for those who want to learn more about it without boring lectures!
The guide was compiled by Anna Poznanskaya – Candidate of Arts, specialist in Western European painting, senior researcher at the Department of Arts of the Countries of Europe and America of the 19th-20th centuries at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
