«White Magic of the Black Abbot: Johannes Trithemius and the Angelic Mind» - the second volume of the «Sacred Diamond» cycle by Brother Acher. The book includes complete translations of two angelic grimoires, tells about the creation of the Tablet of Truth, love potion, Pelagius powder, and purifying magic. Thanks to a thorough analysis of these texts, the reader can familiarize themselves with historically confirmed methods of angelic magic. The Black Abbot should be considered a central figure in the evolution of the Rapidan esoteric tradition. Trithemius was a teacher of Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, a role model in magic for John Dee and Paracelsus, as well as an inspiration for many legends now attributed to Dr. Faustus. New materials illuminate the magical practice of Trithemius himself and his concept of magical theology, which is based on the development of relationships with one's personal angel. The first part of the book presents translations and analysis of manuscripts attributed to the legendary teacher of Trithemius, Pelagius the Hermit, as well as his mysterious mediator Libanius Gallus. The author then examines two texts attributed to Trithemius, which testify to the blending of high and folk magic in practice, linking the celestial forces mentioned in the works of Pelagius with the chthonic properties of plants and animals. The second part of the book begins with a biographical sketch of the leading researcher on Trithemius, Professor Klaus Arnold. The author then moves on to study the intricate relationships between Trithemius, his teacher Pelagius, and their mediator Libanius Gallus. In conclusion, the author shares some thoughts on the hermetic allegorical engraving provided in the third volume of «The Monastery» by Johannes Schayble (1846).
