Letter to Fidel

Laura is 13 years old, she lives in Havana, studies at school, and has never tried milking a goat or riding a horse before. But in March 1961, her life changes drastically - Laura goes to the countryside to teach peasants how to read and write. She is a member of a youth brigade of volunteers who are supposed to eliminate illiteracy in Cuba within a year. Will Laura be able to adapt to life without electricity and running water and teach adults, who have never held a pencil and paper, how to read and write?
