Household Spirits

Yes, yes, this book will speak of old acquaintances - household spirits, not just any, but those from the wonderful country of Finland. In former times, each household had its own miller or barn keeper, stableman or horse keeper, who helped grind flour, monitored the harvest, and took care of livestock. Household spirits could be accommodating or grumpy, thrifty or overly diligent, great lovers of a good meal, or eager to test their strength against a traveling stranger.
The inimitable Mauri Kunnas's book will tell about how two barn keepers quarreled, where a thousand vest buttons came from in one manor, why the maid started shirking work, and many other completely true stories, the main characters of which are the household spirits.
