The Glass Palace

A family saga spanning a century and a grand historical novel, covering not only a hundred years but also a vast territory — from Malaysia and Burma to India.
The story of Indian orphan boy Rajkumar, who finds himself in Mandalay, Burma, and the girl Dolly, a servant to the queen of Burma.

They will meet one day in the Glass Palace, the queen's favorite room, where she will seek refuge during the arrival of the British army in 1885.

Thus begins the complex, multifaceted story of Rajkumar and Dolly, into whose orbit new heroes will continually enter. Their fates will be directly linked to the fate of India, Burma, and Malaya. The poor and the rich, kings and rootless orphans, planters and revolutionaries, soldiers and students — there is a vast array of characters in this dynamic, eventful, historically accurate novel.

And each fate, each story is closely connected to other fates and stories, together forming an incredible, very colorful tapestry, filled with the smallest vibrant details.
