Nikolay Pirogov. The Great Surgeon

It is hard to believe, but a century and a half ago, doctors did not know how to provide anesthesia during surgeries, were not aware of what anesthesia was, did not treat wounds with iodine, and did not apply casts for fractures. The emergence of all these life-saving measures is owed to the great surgeon Nikolay Pirogov. A book about his life journey, his contribution to science and medical practice will reintroduce this remarkable man to the reader.
