Journey of Words

This book invites you on the most exciting of journeys — aboard words. Indeed, words, like people, do not stand still. Essentially, they are always on the move — from one era to another, from one nation to another, and they bring with them images of speech and images of thought.

If words are the glasses through which we view the world, then the twenty-five stories collected in this book represent the journey our ability to speak about it has taken through language. A journey to the present day, on which new challenges have emerged, victories and discoveries have come about, and people have learned to think and feel in new ways.

Tracing the origin of words from ancient roots to modern meanings, from extinct dead languages to new means of expressing thoughts and feelings — means understanding the present and, most importantly, preparing for the future — after all, each new generation pays special attention to the choice of words.
