Burroughs Who Exploded. The Beat Generation, Postmodernism, Cyberpunk and Other Shards

William Seward Burroughs is one of the most influential American prose writers of the 20th century. Without his books, it is hard to imagine the films of David Cronenberg, the philosophical works of Gilles Deleuze, the songs of David Bowie. He was an ally of the beatniks and a patron of the punks, a pioneer of queer culture and an icon of rock and roll, a gun enthusiast and a desperate drug addict, a preacher of freedom and a fugitive killer. It is difficult to find corners of contemporary culture where the isotopes of his influence do not shine: postmodernism, cyberpunk, transhumanism, psychedelic rock, industrial—the list can go on endlessly. "Burroughs Who Exploded" is the first Russian-language biography of the vanguard of counterculture, written by Dmitry Haustov, author of books about Charles Bukowski, George Orwell, and the Beat Generation.
