Digital Electronics for Beginners

The basics of digital electronics are presented in an accessible way for beginners – by creating simple devices on a breadboard that start working immediately after assembly, without the need for soldering, tuning, or programming. The set of necessary components is minimized. Digital signals and the binary numbering system, basic circuits based on MOS transistors, digital logic devices using transistors and integrated circuits, combinational and sequential circuits, shift registers, and counters are discussed. The necessary information about the operation of microprocessors and microcontrollers is provided. The second edition includes a chapter on interfacing analog and digital devices, describing how to connect analog devices to digital circuits, designing microprocessors, and systems on a chip.
