The Moon and Sixpence. A Book for Reading in English

"The Moon and Sixpence" is one of the deepest works of the classic of English literature, W. Somerset Maugham. The novel tells the dramatic story of a man who, in middle age, feeling he has the gift of an artist, did not hesitate to drastically change his life. The writer does not take sides, does not moralize, does not condemn Charles Strickland, the prototype of whom was Paul Gauguin, for his cruel treatment of those close to him, does not praise him for his determination, but gives the reader the right to draw their own conclusions. The book provides the unadapted text in the original language, accompanied by comments, assignments, and a glossary. .
