Moscow Sovereigns. The Younger Son

"Moscow Sovereigns" — a monumental cycle of novels created by the writer, philologist-Rusist, folklorist, and historian Dmitry Balashov.

This epic chronicle, a kind of grand novel-epic, fitting into a multi-volume publication, covers the period of Russian history from 1263 to 1425 and has been impressing readers for decades with its depth, scale, vivid imagery, and masterful stylization of language.

Together, the novels of the cycle form a kind of chronicle, in which historical events in the lives of major principalities unfold year by year, reflecting the life and customs of various social classes, presenting the fates, appearance, and character of hundreds of historical figures.

The opening novel of the cycle, "The Younger Son," tells about the life of the first Moscow prince, the younger son of Alexander Nevsky, Daniel Aleksandrovich.
