Alexander Trifonovich Tvardovsky (1910–1971) — Russian writer, poet, and prose writer, laureate of state awards, holder of many orders and medals.
In the poet's work, complex, pivotal moments in the history of the country and the life of the people are reflected. Throughout the Great Patriotic War, Tvardovsky worked as a military correspondent, traveling with the active army from Moscow to Königsberg.
The lyric-epic poem "Vasily Tyorkin" (1941–1945) is Tvardovsky's most famous work. "A book about a fighter," as the author himself referred to it, describes the events of frontline life, thoughts, and feelings of a person at war.
The poem was extraordinarily popular at the front and brought the author genuine fame.
The book also includes poems from different years.
