Running on the waves. gold chain

“When the days begin to gather dust and the colors fade, I take Green. I open it on any page. This is how they wipe the windows in the house in the spring. Everything becomes light, bright, everything again mysteriously excites, as in childhood,” wrote Daniil Granin. And these words perfectly characterize the work of Alexander Stepanovich Grinevsky (1880–1932), who wrote under the pseudonym Alexander Green. “A severe dreamer,” in his works Green created a fairyland, dangerous and alluring, like the sea. And even though this beautiful, bright and permeated with a fresh wind world is not free from human greed, inertia and cruelty, an ineradicable faith in the victory of love and goodness is always alive in it. This collection includes two novels: the famous romantic fantasy “Running on the Waves”, as well as “The Golden Chain” - the exciting story of a sixteen-year-old cabin boy who one night went to try his luck on a hijacked ship.
