Yuz Alekhikovsky (1929–2022) — a Russian writer and poet, author of popular "camp" songs that were not performed on the Soviet stage, yet gained fame among the people: "After the rains, the rains", "Song about Stalin", "Soviet Easter", "Little cigarette butt" — they were warmly loved and sung, even without knowing the name of the author. However, Alekhikovsky himself, while composing his "little songs", could not have imagined that they would gain such popularity and would be "sung by people with purifying laughter and heartfelt sadness". Alekhikovsky's pen is also responsible for other works, which won the love of the people ("Nikolai Nikolayevich", "Kangaroo", "Camouflage", etc.), although in the writer's homeland, most of them were published only years after their creation. This edition presents an almost complete collection of poetic texts by Yuz Alekhikovsky, written at different times in his life, starting with early — ironic, pitiful, mocking verses and songs that reflected the absurd world of Soviet reality — and ending with poems written in the last years of his life, revealing an unexpected depth and strength of the author's lyrical gift.
