Eugene Onegin (with Lotman's comments) in 2 books

Book 1. Eugene Onegin: a novel in verse

The phenomenon of the verse novel "Eugene Onegin" lies in the fact that Pushkin presents an "encyclopedia of Russian life" in poetic words, rich with details and allusions, elegantly woven into the narrative. The reader discovers behind the lightness and beauty of Pushkin's style philosophical musings, metatextual reflection, and the author's ironic remarks. The story of the main characters, the images of Onegin and Tatyana seem so familiar and close that no one can remain indifferent.
"Eugene Onegin" is not only an immersion into Russian culture, which becomes more engaging thanks to Lotman's "Commentary," but also a school of humanity and empathy.
The book reproduces autographs and drawings from A. S. Pushkin's working notebooks, as well as illustrations by contemporary artist Viktoria Yastreba.
