Dunhuang

Dunhuang — an ancient city on the Silk Road; it was traversed by trading caravans, and Buddhist monks temporarily stopped there for spiritual enhancement. The book by Chai Jianhun and Liu Jinbao reveals the history of this city: what happened to Dunhuang from the time of Han Emperor Wu-di to the present day, how the Mogao Caves were formed and what purpose they served, what contributed to the creation of Dunhuang studies — the science of Dunhuang. For a wide audience.
