Wisdom of Chinese Hieroglyphs

What happens if you add pupils to a dragon image? Why is it customary to eat noodles on birthdays in China? What do the goddess Chang'e and the Chinese lunar program have in common? How are magpies and the Chinese Valentine's Day connected? The answers to these and many other questions are not only related to Chinese culture but are also reflected in its writing. The book will introduce the reader to the etymology of Chinese characters from the early Neolithic era to the present day. Numerous illustrations will help to understand how the Chinese language, the perception of words, and the ideograms of Chinese writing have changed. The thematic sections of the book present the most basic characters (person, house, river, fire, mother, friend), allowing even those who are encountering it for the first time to immerse themselves in the etymology of words.
