Developing Board Game Delissimo
Pizza — the best visual aid for learning fractions
Traditional Italian pizza is divided into 8 sectors. It is very convenient to explain what parts and fractions are using it as an example. Children see how whole numbers or other fractions are composed of fractions, which helps them quickly and easily navigate the complex world of fractional numbers and learn to easily add and reduce them!
The difficulty increases along with the level of preparation
In the initial level of the game, children from 6 years old are just getting acquainted with simple fractions: 1/2 and 1/4 and 3/4. Later in the game, more complex fractions appear, such as 3/8 and 5/8. Older kids (8-10 years) learn to perform complex operations with fractions: addition, reduction, and finding a common denominator. As a result, the child understands that 4/8 is 1/2, and 1/8 + 5/8 is 3/4.
Dividing and adding in the pizzeria "Delissimo"!
For the game with children from six years old, only round cards are used.
- Each player takes three cards, the same number of cards is placed on the table, all cards are laid face up.
- The player's task is to compose a pizza on the game board that matches the number of pieces of one of their pizzas from several cards. Or, conversely, to choose one pizza on the game board and compose it from their cards.
- The player who collects the maximum number of pizzas during the game wins!
In the variations of the game for ages 8 and 10, rectangular order cards need to be used. The player's task is to assemble an order from the pizzas available on the game board, considering not only their size but also the ingredients. The game is made more exciting with several special cards that allow you to slow down your competitors' progress and speed up your own by completing "urgent" orders.
